Montesodi 2012

The winter was very cold with abundant snowfall followed by a cool spring and a hot and dry summer with record temperatures. Starting in 2011, the Sangiovese was still aged for 18 months but no longer in barriques but 30hl Austrian and French oak barrels. The bouquet has floral notes of violet, intense sweet fruit, including ripe cherry and soar cherry jam, together with spicy sensations of cardamom and vanilla and a balsamic hint. The mouthfeel is warm, rich and juicy and quite soft even if somewhat tannic, with an excellent body and a long finish.
