Definitely a memorable year, similar towards the end to 1985, with favorable temperature variations ahead of the harvest. The blend remained the same and aging continued to be 22 months in barriques. Here the garnet color continues to have ruby hues, while the aroma is still distinguished (after 26 years!) by the fruit together with balsamic notes of aromatic herbs and hints of spice and leather. The mouthfeel is fresh and fruity, elegant and mellow, silky and wrapping with a long aftertaste of blackberry. A great wine. The bottle tasted came from a private collection put aside for the birth of Lamberto Frescobaldi’s son Vittorio.
Difficult to find, it costs around 70 euros.
