Montepulciano d’Abruzzo 1983

The weather this year was remembered for its scaldingsummer heat. Carmine Festa gave the vintage a 5-star rating.
The Montepulciano grape is known for being able to resist the heat and evidence of this was this wine’s amazing youth, really quite unusual. The distinct ruby color was slightly garnet on the edge and the bouquet had scents of coffee, black olives and minerals. The mouthfeel had great balance and was not at all flat. This could age a few more years.
