Giovanni Battista Lucangeli acquired Villa Forano in 1996 and restored the vineyard following tradition by planting his 20 hectares with only indigenous grapes. Monteferro is made from 100% Maceratino grapes and 20% ferments on the lees. A total of 6,600 bottles are produced a year.
The wine has a lucent, straw-yellow color with golden reflections and a full bouquet. There are scents of mimosa, yellow rose, elder, melon, pineapple and anise along with notes of butter and roasted nuts. The mouthfeel is willowy and whippy, with a warm-soft attack nicely upheld by the acidity. The close is piquant, almond-like and long.
