Aside from great Amarone wines, Campo dei Gigli above all, the Castagnedi family has for years been producing Soave Monte Ceriani in Val d’Illasi, which is outside the ‘classico’ district. This Vecchie Vigne (Old Vines) version is made with only Garganega grapes and ages six months in French oak barriques. The bouquet has notes of yellow fruit and vanilla, while the mouthfeel has an excellent structure, nicely rich with extracts and with a distinct alcohol content. This is a powerful white and even a bit difficult given its bold structure.
