A very good year with a hot and dry summer (remember heat does not hurt this vine) and a balanced autumn. The color is as good as it gets, a shiny eggplant black with a ruby edge. The nose is dark and dense like the 2009 but it has more warmth. A magnificent bouquet of black cherry and a tad of cinnamon stick welded together, along with a touch of licorice and violet. The wine makes a full impact on the palate with a return of that dark black fruit made smoky by spices, this time without any phenolic/weed trace. The tannins are very abundant but not dry, which lengthen the wine while maintaining its breadth. A great bottle which still needs three to four years to peak.
