Mazzamurello 2004 stole hearts at Vinitaly a few years back and so we were very curious to taste again this wine made by 'peasant hands with clean fingernails'. The 2004 season was very balanced, at most a little cool. In fact, this wine was like a 2009 but with a little more fruit and five years more. Its a color seemed immune to time and the aroma was of smoked bitter greens, cumin, venison and with all its fresh tannins, almost mentholated, the end result was a very unique indeed. As with the 2009, the fruit (but not the tannins) was pleasantly bitter to the tongue. The deep and wild finish guarantee its recognition. Good for at least another five years.
