Maurizio Zanella 1989

It has a compact garnet colour, rich and deep, and still impressively intact. The nose is spicy, with very faint notes of pyrazine as well as hints of freshly-mown grass and damp earth. The fruit is rich and vigorous on the palate, and holding up perfectly; it is relatively complex, but also with an excellent goût de terroir. This was one of the surprises of the day and extremely satisfying to drink. Compliments to Maurizio Zanella, who doesn’t always succeed in giving me such great pleasure.
