This Valpolicella is very consistent and interesting. It is a classic Verona blend of mostly Corvina and Rodinella with a small addition of Molinara grapes, a spot-on choice.
The wine has an intense ruby color while the nose is both intensely clear and complex with distinct floral notes of violet and lavender along with scents of blackcurrant and blackberry. Everything is accompanied by a touch of sweet spice which in no way distracts. The mouthfeel has a nice structure and is not opulent but rather quite pleasing to drink thanks to an elegant acidity and very soft tannins. It has a nice progression that demands a second sip and the finish is lovely and nicely persistent. A wine to drink at the table or on its own.
