This estate is run by Andrea, Mattia, Roberto and Rudy Zeni. It is located in Gruno, a small village on the right bank of the Adige River. Here they have been making wine and distilled spirits since the end of the 19th century. Their Trentodoc is made in Maso Nero. A total of 7,900 bottles were produced of this Brut Riserva 2008 which is made from only Chardonnay grapes, 7/10 of which ferments in steel and the rest in wood, where the malolactic fermentation takes place. It was bottled for secondary fermentation in the summer of 2009 and spent 48 months on the lees to then be disgorged in May 2013. It pours lively and soft into the glass where it has a nice straw-yellow color with flashes of golden light. The wine has rich texture and has lots of personality in both the aroma and the mouthfeel. The bouquet has intense scents of white melon, apple, grapefruit, fresh hazelnut, baked good and pastry with mineral nuances. The effervescence is lovely and graceful and upholds a soft rotundness and a fresh mineral streak through the finish. Incredibly drinkable.
