Made with Ciliegiolo grapes from old vines that are up to 50 years old. The wine ferments in stainless steel and ages in cement-glass vats without the addition of sulfites. Production is only a few thousand bottles (some 2,500 from the 2015 harvest).
The wine has a nicely concentrated, ruby color and a clear bouquet of ripe cherry and strong violet along with scents of blackberry and a hint of blood orange. Very intriguing. The mouthfeel is full, slightly balsamic, with a discreet acidic streak and a distinct progression followed by a flavorful aftertaste with a pleasing persistence.
