An epitome of the concept of an assemblage exceptional, as always a blend of three vintages which is 55% Chardonnay and 45% Pinot Noir with each vintage bringing their particular traits which together create an assonance of harmony and balance. In this Champagne there is the precise and sharp freshness of the 2002 harvest, the richness and evolved notes of 1999 and the fruity and lithe body of the 1997 wine. The grapes are only those from Champagne’s 12 Grand Cru villages, in particular from Ambonnay, Verzenay, Mailly, Avize, Cramant, Chouilly and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. The wine needs to sit for at least 10 years on the less to obtain the complexity and expression that distinguish Grand Siècle. In the glass, the wine has a bright, pale-golden color with a distinct bouquet of white flowers, Saturn peach and green apple, toasted almond and honey brioche with a veil of candied citrus and a hint of graphite. The mouthfeel is full and enticing, with an endless freshness, a seductive and delicious aromatic depth and a flavorful and rich aftertaste.
