Rather than Blanc de Blancs, the label only says Chardonnay. This blend is based on grapes from the 2012 harvest and composed 20% of vins de reserve that were preserved separately to then be mixed following the Solera method. The decision not to add any dosage and create a Brut Nature reflects the producer’s desire to highlight the essence of the Cote de Blancs Grand Cru parcels, especially those in Cramant. This is evident already in the bouquet which has a surprisingly sharp and chalky lightness with a delicately floral component and notes of hay, green apple peel, pineapple and kiwi. The mouthfeel is direct but has a nice creaminess and is linear with its notes of elderberry water, Williams pear and lime, while the finish has a saline freshness. The wine’s lithe drinkability is its most fetching characteristic.
