La Malora 2012

This is a blend of 85% Nebbiolo and 15% Barbera grapes which were allowed to become very ripe on the vine while malolactic fermentation and aged took place in barriques. The wine has a lovely ruby color and the initial aroma of red fruit, sweet spice and jam recall the Barbera while the Barolo comes out later with the notes of red rose, tobacco and mushroom. The mouthfeel is soft and has a wonderful flavor and the tannins from the two different grapes are wrapping and pointy, balanced and upheld by a distinct acidity. The finish entices another sip.
