A cuvée produced only with grapes from vineyards in historic Grand Cru villages, a blend with 53% Pinot Noir from Ay, Bouzy, Ambonnay, Verzy and Verzenay and 47% Chardonnay from Avize, Oger and Le Mesnil Sur Oger. More Chardonnay was used for this vintage in order to obtain the proper acidic balance. After sitting on the lees for seven years, the wine was disgorged in January 2014 with a dosage of 8g/l.
The color is a lucent golden and the bouquet immediately offers intense yet elegant notes and is distinguished by a distinct iodine component. Notes of hazelnut paste enrich the fruity tension of apple peel, currant and yellow peach together with nuances of barely cookies. The texture of the mouthfeel is creamy yet immediately reveals the boldness of the Pinot Noir that gives the cuvée its ‘soul’. This aspect is most evident in the persistence of the flavor, one composed of balance and a growing fullness that allows the texture to evolve even in regard to volume. In the finish there are notes of lemon curd, salty nougat and ginger. A rich Champagne that with age will offer a lot. A bottle that those who love a great cuvée must not miss.
