The color is both dark and bright with very intense ruby reflections. The aroma is extremely complex with the classic fruit scents enhanced by a floral component and a nice balsamic note, along with some African chocolate that leans towards warm spice and currant with blackberry bringing it all together. The mouthfeel is immense and austere, compact, with the nice acidity perfectly blended in and upholding an excellent structure. The tannins are still present, albeit light, due to the wood more than the grape. The finish is broad and consistent with the aroma. A splendid wine.
