The color is more purple than black, the aroma is penetrating and overall the wine is evolving into something different. The mouthfeel is definitely sweet with its black cherry flavor but it is enhanced by an incredible freshness. This is a vintage that the wine’s detractors considered at the time to be very problematic but which demonstrates what Casolanetti meant when he said you had to wait to judge the organoleptic extremes of this wine because time will change it and nothing is what it seems.
