An equal blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay for this Champagne from a harvest that was not as easy as the 1985. The winter in the region was one of the coldest in memory with frosts that halved the amount of grapes in Montagne de Reims with the harvest saved by a dry summer with mild temperatures. The grapes from the Maison’s vineyards in Cumières, Damery, Hautvillers and Verneuil produced a Champagne that is still very fresh and vital with a vibrant and young aromatic profile distinguished by citrus notes, with those of candied lemon standing out, along with suffused ones of medicinal herbs including sage and lemon grass. The flavor is harmonious and consistent with notes of brioche and Mirabelle plum compote and an energetic mouthfeel with a pleasing sapidity.
