This historic Montalcino estate has recently undergone a major restructuring. The 2007 Brunello has a ruby color that tends to be garnet on the edge of the glass. The bouquet is very precise and fruity without any warm notes. Blackberry, cherry and morello cherry are the fruits that stand out the most under which there is a slight smoky accent and other spicy scents that are not invasive and decidedly sweet. The attack is sharp and nicely compact, with a tannin that has nicely settled and the DR0P is upheld by an unexpected acidity for that vintage. The finish is persistent and fresh and an excellent retro-nasal return.
