This 100% Sangiovese is an authentic icon among Brunello di Montalcino. It aged for four years in large and old barrels of Slavonian oak. The vineyard is the oldest of those surrounding the splendid villa with vines that are even over 50-years-old and that sit at an altitude of over 450m above sea level. Drinking this wine is like being behind the wheel of a vintage Rolls Royce. It has a very lovely, light and limpid garnet color and an extremely complex aroma where the fruit gives way to a smoky note and those of black tobacco with delicate hints of violet and initial sensations of licorice. There is a light suggestion of young tannins, which is totally understandable at this stage of the wine’s evolution, while the tension from the acidity makes it both elegant and young at the same time.  The mouthfeel then becomes velvety, subtle and classic as it progresses towards a long finish with a composed persistence, making this an absolute star among Italian wines. This was probably the last wine the late, great and unforgettable Franco Biondi Santi nurtured.
