Il Castagno 2010

100% syrah. Like the previous wine this has aged two years in barrels of which one third are new wood and the rest being used for the second and third time. Here, however, the aroma is more delicate with strawberry and juicy black cherry competing for center stage with scents of tobacco and spice while the mouthfeel, already softer and more balanced, is juicy fruit with a nice acidity and already polished tannins. For sure this is more ready than the 2009, perhaps because it is more simple and will have a shorter lifespan than its older brother.
