We usually do not evaluate wines that are still in the vat but in this case it was almost ready and so we made an exception, although the rating is in parenthesis. This is an incredible wine and the reaction of my incredulous colleagues made Sergio and me laugh. In this vintage the amount of grapes with botrytis or noble rot was higher, some 30%, enriching the very clean and intense aromas with notes of saffron, camphor, lychees and then pink grapefruit and medlar, all very lovely. The flavor is outstanding with a distinct attack and a wonderful progression, one in which the acidity and chalky minerality give a broad dimension that evolves into a finish of rare elegance and persistence. While still very young, this wine already has an incredible personality.
