This vintage is still not on the market where you can find the 2012 and, soon the 2013, because Francesco Spatafora is rightfully convinced that if worked well, Grillo is a grape that can produce wines that can age long. This is a varietal Grillo the grapes for which were grown in an almost-20-year-old, close to two-hectare vineyard at an altitude of 350 meters. The grapes are picked in two periods, in the second half of August and in the first half of September, in order to have grapes with different levels of acidity and sugar. The must from the second harvest is added to that of the first which has already begun to ferment, thus prolonging the fermentation process to give the wine a greater elegance.
The wine is surprisingly good and has a bold, straw-yellow color. The aroma is very intense, unusual and complex with a strong smoked note enriched by whiffs of tropical fruit and ripe fruit with some hints of medicinal herbs. The mouthfeel is fresh and full with a nice impact and is very consistent in the way it evolves. Rich and elegant, the finish is saline and tasty.
