Although made from Glera grapes and produced in Valdobbiadene, this is not a Prosecco DOCG. The reason is because Primo Franco, perhaps to be a little polemical, did not submit it to the official tasting commission and thus he ‘degraded’ it to a just a simple Veneto IGT. However, if this is not the best bubbly made from Glera and using the Charmat process then it comes real close. This vintage 2010 is wonderful, a true delight with its bouquet of wisteria and creamy mouthfeel. And should you serve it at 8°C and pair it with a fragrant shrimp fry, well then…
