While this is not a Bordeaux, it is always a good to have an outside reference point to better understand the style of the wine in question. Grattamacco, being one of the very best Italian wines made from Bordeaux grapes, has much in common with Bordeaux wines, especially Saint Emilion. Its color is an authoritative, full red, while aging has given complexity to its bouquet of red fruit and spice. The taste is soft, pleasingly velvety, with a nice acidic streak and a weave of very delicate tannins.
