Made from only Nebbiolo grapes. After several below par vintages this Gran Bussia was more like the ones I knew and loved, those of 1989 and 1990. Truly outstanding wines. A great Barolo Monfortino which had quite an intense garnet color and wrapping and complex aromas of tar, violet, tobacco and some notes of licorice. What was truly unmatchable was the richness of the flavor with tannins that were almost hypnotized by the delicious sweetness of the extracts and upheld by a sufficient acidity, enough to make the mouthfeel velvety and seductive. The finish was long and slightly alcoholic.
