Fumin 2000

I had expected this to be more concentrated but this grape never fails to surprise and ages very well in the bottle. In hot years it tends to have an aroma that is more fruity with blackberry and blueberry up front, not bad for a 13-year-old wine. A hint of its age ispresent with a touch of underbrush, a balsamic component and damp leaves, but the black pepper is still nicely there in the background. The taste is less convincing because the tannins are strangely rigid and do not allow the usual progression.
