Fiore di Vigna 2005

This wine recently excelled at Radici, a competition for wines made from the indigenous grape varieties of Southern Italy that is held each year in Puglia. The colour is a very deep red with bright reflections. On the nose one finds certain hints that are typical of the variety: cherries preserved in brandy and sour cherries. It is powerful and very soft on the palate, perhaps overly so. The wood is evident and everything seems to have got stuck in an attractive but monotone style, without any real depth.
