Faro Palari 2005

A great bottle! Even before opening it we knew that we would be tasting a fine wine: we have been aware of its reputation for some years now. I had already drunk one or two bottles of it, but for some of my fellow tasters it was the first time and they couldn’t wait to do so. The colour is a still very lively ruby red, with garnet highlights. It immediately makes one think of Burgundy, partly because of its incredible length, partly thanks to its rarefied elegance and its extremely silky tannins. It starts off slightly dumb on the nose, before opening up with a whispered succession of delicate spices, dried flowers and rose petals.
