We finished with a 100% Nero d’Avola, Ero 2009, with its deep, bright purple hue and its sensations of sour cherries, mushrooms and wet earth. It is a subtle wine, but take care not to make the mistake of considering it simple. It is very different from many other grapes made from the same grape variety. Could that be the result of Federico Curtaz’s “old-fashioned” winemaking?
