Carlo Nerozzi, a friendly man full of stories, says the inspiration for this Passito came after he tasted a Moscato di Terracina by Paola di Mauro, a version of Moscato that the lady of Colli Picchioni made only for a small circle of friends. Carlo’s wine initially had a very Mediterranean imprint (the 1995 vintage was named Sud or South) but it gradually became more ‘nordic’ and its name was changed to its current one, Due Cuori (Two Hearts), in memory of his late parents.
The wine is made from 100% Moscato Giallo grapes grown in a half-an-hectare plot and that produces only 3,000 bottles a year. After raisinating for three months, the grapes are pressed and fermented in barriques for 18 months. The wine is then ages in the bottle for 12 months. It has a golden-yellow color, an intense and aromatic bouquet with distinct citrus notes and floral whiffs. The sweetness of the taste is counterpointed by a fresh acidity with a return of almost exotic fruit.
