This is an atypical Sangiovese that goes into the jug after stemming and a minimum pressing. Maceration, vinification and aging all takes places inside the jugs and the result is surprising. The impact of the aroma is ‘reductive’ with scents of medicinal herbs, almost tree bark, candied blood orange, dark tobacco and underbrush. With breathing the glass gives off spicy and slightly balsamic sensations to then reveal the classic cherry note. The mouthfeel is very complex with a pronounced and austere attack, nice yet young tannins and a captivating and non-invasive acidity. This fosters an excellent progression, a nice feeling at the center of the mouth and an intense finish with an aftertaste of medicinal herbs and sweet tobacco and hints of cherry to the nose. The persistence is excellent.
