It may be because the vineyards sit at a higher altitude or the soft pressing, but this Sagrantino is different from all the others in regard to color (a tad more luminous) and fruit (more red than dark). The mouthfeel has an impressive structure and magnificent flavor with broad, thick and perfectly distributed tannins that here are less pressing than elsewhere. We believe the dark and lunar nature of Sagrantino will emerge slower than average and without emphasis. From the first sip we had the impression that we were tasting one of central Italy’s greatest red wines. Although this has another 30 years ahead of it but is already a pleasure to drink now.
