I believe Montesodi is Frescobaldi's best wine. I think it is unique among the vast the number of wines that the commercial giant produces and one that truly represents the land where it is made and does not given in the market demands for pleasing-sweet-soft products the way its other wines do. The 2009 vintage confirms this uniqueness even if among the other wines produced in the area it suffers most from its youth in certain details. But there is nothing to fear for this wine will get better with age and after three years the wood is fully integrated. The color is a very bright, compact ruby, while the nose is slightly spicy from aged wood which is still present but not nauseating and the basic red fruit is clear and sharp: blackberry, black cherry and morello are very present while compared to other years there is a slight verdant hint. The taste is still dominated by the acidic-tannic rapport with the latter having a slight edge even if free from any bitterness and thus of fine quality. This all develops very nicely, delicate and full. The finish reflects its young age and it still needs to relax.
