Sooner or later the reputation of vintage 2003 will need to be revised considering that it is inferior to its value today. While the white wines from some parts of Italy have faded, this Chianti is bursting with health, although its richness and robustness are not exactly recognizable as those of the winery’s trademark. The aroma is centered on notes of tobacco and mint and it is more fruity than floral. The mouthfeel is very rich and rough, savory and the finish is a broadside. What is most surprising are the wine’s contrasts and chiaroscuro. It could even still get better.
