This is a step up because 2015 was an excellent year throughout Bordeaux, especially in this area. The rich, ruby color still has a purple edge and here the texture and consistency are greater. The impact of the aroma is more closed but already offers scents of ripe prune, blackberry and a very refined sensation that recalls sour cherry. With a little breathing the bouquet becomes more distinct with notes of vanilla and very light and refined ones of cinnamon. This is a bouquet that continues to evolve in the glass to demonstrate all its complexity. The mouthfeel is rich and broad with tannins that are still fine and dares to hide itself behind a flavor of grape juice. The finish is very long.
Pair this wine with a goose breast stuffed with apricots and dried figs on a bed of caramelized onions and a Bordelaise sauce or, why not, a cocotte with a Roquefort fondue side.
