A blend of 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35.6% Merlot, 0.5% Cabernet Franc and 0.9% Petit Verdot that matures in barriques, 50% of which are new wood. The grapes are from vineyards outside the estate’s historic parcels, plus those that were not used for the Grand Vin. The wine reflects the terroir and is less fragrant with the bouquet playing on dark notes of graphite and alternating ones of dried tobacco and red rose. After a very rich attack, the mouthfeel reveals multilayered tannins typical of the best Cabernet. The finish is refreshing and very long with notes of graphite and menthol. A masterpiece.
