This was a no-brainer and could not have been anything else. After the amazing Rosso di Montalcino from the same winery, perhaps the best Rosso di Montalcino ever made, it was easy to predict that the Brunello would be excellent.
What is most impressive about Cerbaoina wines is the consistency the nose has through the constant variables used depending on the type of year. Thus the Brunello 2007 is very recognizable thanks to its streak of licorice which runs through and enriches the well-defined fruit blend of cherry, morello and a floral bouquet of various violets. The taste is rich and bold with compact but present tannins. This vintage's tartness is also good with the tannins making the overall body pleasurable and keeping its significant alcoholic level unnoticeable. A wine of great power and elegance with an intense and long finish. What is striking is the austere nature which shows itself even in a rotund vintage like 2007.
