Another change in the cellar with large tonneaux rather than smaller barriques used to ferment the Nero d’Avola, which in this area has less concentration and structure that needs to be curbed through the use of wood. The result was a more elegant wine. However, while this 2009, so subtle and balsamic, may have great presence in the glass, it loses a little of what identifies it as a Cerasuolo. It is the least Sicilian of the group and, basically, is a little unsettling. In the aroma there are notes of currant, pomegranate and raspberry, with a nice pungency on a background of boxwood. Pleasing but at the cost of losing its DNA.
