The quality of this winery has improved consistently over the past few years , thanks also to a better use of small barrels. It appears to have overcome that obstacle that many wineries faced in the 1990s (and even earlier) in other parts of Tuscany and, above all, in Piedmont. This had to do with the use of old barrels that sometimes had undue influence. This 2006 exemplifies the technological improvement. The aroma has toasted notes and those of cacao but they are not too exuberant and are well-covered by the black cherry and ripe blackberry. The taste is bold and slightly warm but well-upheld by a rich acidity. The finish has notes of vanilla and fruit.
