The research done at the estate using alternative grapes included this Syrah that is often overlooked by critics. I remember how the first experiments using barriques were done away from the estate’s old cellar. This wine has always lived in the shadow of its older brothers but did not deserve to. It has a very intense, ruby color and after 18 years in the bottle deservedly needs to breathe a little to allow the bouquet to open with its notes of blood orange, orange peel, mulberry, blackberry and blueberry. The aroma is intense and clear and unexpectedly young. The mouthfeel has a wonderful progression, a thick yet elegant texture and is quite vertical thanks to the intense acidity and polished tannins. The aftertaste is very flavorful.
