This was a difficult yet important year for Giovanni and Letizia, which included the birth of their daughter Margherita. I knew we would be tasting the Pinot Nero, a wine over which we’ve had many friendly discussions and clashes. For being a Tuscan Pinot Noir, this goes far beyond expectations and boasts all the varietal’s qualities, be it the wild strawberry or floral sensations, which just get better in the glass. The mouthfeel is still flavorful but the tannins lack finesse while the aftertaste is consistent with the aroma. It is amazing how this wine has held up.
