Cantina Maestra 2008

Up until a few years ago this estate was part of the Campari group and only three weeks ago it was acquired by an American family. Stainless steel vats are used to turn the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes into wine that then ages 36 months in the bottle. The bouquet has intense scents of lemon and citrus blossoms, gorse, resin and white tea. The effervescence in the mouthfeel is a bit excessive but the citrus component adds to the tension along with a note of salinity.
