There used to be an advertising campaign with the slogan: ‘one word says it all’ and this could easily be applied to Cannubi. The name is not that of a specific geographic area but an out-and-out cru (according to the classification of Renato Ratti) in the sense that it is not just a subzone but a plot of excellence. Cannubi is a long hill that rises at the entry to the town of Barolo, where the grapes above all offer elegance and delicate tannins, as well as drinkability.
This 2009 is more traditional than the previous wine as is evident above all by its austere nature. Its aroma is very fruity with small red berries, cherry and black plum, along with just a hint of spice and a distinct floral component of violet. The mouthfeel is austere and vertical, deep and very elegant with lovely tannins and an outstanding taste-aroma harmony.
