A blend of 90% Tempranillo with 8% Garnacha (Cannonau) and 2% Graciano (Carignano) in which the grapes macerate for five days to then age for 18 months in new-wood French barriques. The wine is pure pleasure and the product of the Calvario cru vineyard that is alberello trained and planted in a soil rich in stones. The moody aroma has notes of damp tobacco, game and amber on a prune background. The wood component is evident (in this area expressed more in sensations of citrus and chocolate than vanilla) but it has been totally integrated. The mouthfeel is broad without any harshness and the flavor is totally consistent with the aroma, while the chiaroscuro finish is full and shadowy. This vintage still has another 20 years ahead of it and the wine is imported to Italy by Balan srl.
