A total of 500mm of rain fell throughout the whole year and this says it all. Nevertheless, Sicily had a mild spring and fairly normal summer and so the situation was not as devastating as in other parts of Italy. The wine has a very dark, compact ruby color with an aroma of underbrush and graphite, vegetal and mentholated nuances, tobacco, cedar and incense, a ‘dark’ bouquet with a pleasing impact. The mouthfeel has a nice pungent note and soft tannins but everything is toned down and not that deep. The persistence is nice and the impression is that this wine has a long life ahead of it.
