For four generations the Tassari family has been making white wines from Garganega, the main white grape in the areas of Soave and Monti Lessini, where the volcanic soil in the hills of the town of Ronca leave an unmistakable imprint on the wines. From only two hectares, out of the 82 the family own and that sit at an altitude of 300m, they produce this Lessini Duratello that is dedicated to the father of the current owner, Amedeo. This is a blend of 90% Durella and 10% Garganega created to bring out the purity of the energy from the volcanic soil. The wine is made in stainless steel without malolactic fermentation, sits on the lees for 42 months and is given no dosage when it is disgorged, making it a Pas Dosé. The color is a straw-yellow with green reflections while the soft effervescence disguises a sharp and precise aroma of hawthorn, lime, fresh almond and white peach along with a smoky hint. The avid and limpid mouthfeel has sensations of citrus and graphite that underscore the lack of dosage which becomes clear in the austere finish.
