Made from only Sangiovese grapes. A fantastic Brunello, produced at the time by Piero Palmucci and so long before the estate was sold to Claudio and Iris Tipa. The grapes were from the southeast area of Montalcino and fully reflected the zone’s character. The wine had a distinct garnet color and wrapping aromas with smoky notes and scents of barley sugar, black cherry and leather. The mouthfeel was wonderful with tannins that were a tad rustic but intriguing and while the acidity was evident, it was counterbalanced by the sweetness of the extracts that made the wine incredibly drinkable. The finish was long and mellow with an aftertaste of cherries preserved in alcohol.
