After skipping five years came this wonderful version of Poggio all'Oro. Its garnet color is intense and compact. The aroma is broad and intense with strong balsamic scents like eucalyptus and a tad of mint. The bouquet has the typical scents of red fruit, ripe cherry and red mulberries, together with sweet licorice and a hint of light tobacco. The flavor centers on distinct and elegant tannins while the acidity does it job of holing up the glyceric component. The progression is excellent thanks to the right balances and the finish is like that of the great vintages for its consistency and persistence. Very drinkable.
