Made exclusively from Nebbiolo grapes cultivated in the historic Brunate vineyard, on the border between the commune of La Morra and that of Barolo. The ’67 vintage was unforgettable, but ’70 and ’71 were no less so. Here we are back at a similar level, with a wine of truly classic style. It has a pure garnet colour and very typical perfumes, with notes of liquorice, hay, tar and violets. Its flavour is firm and rather tannic, but with a sweetness of fruit that dampens down its harsher elements. The finish is long, with a faint bitterish note in the aftertaste. Serve it at 18°C with game, beef braised in Barolo or very mature Parmigiano Reggiano cheese.
